closing the loop to make sure that remote folks can affect the course of the event

Freeconference.com supports Gizmo
Make it beneficial to both event attendees and remote attendees
What are our presumptions? What do we presume of local and remote attendees?
Current difficulties
- following along -- easier with audio/video with parallel chat
- if any of those pieces are missing, it's difficult to follow along
- also depends on goals... is this a "sell event" or "tell a story"
Adobe Breeze (http://www.adobe.com/products/breeze/)
Adobe Breeze already has sort of a 'event in a box' capability
Streaming / Web video notes - http://www.transmission.cc/wiki/Main_Pageā
- the literal box, hardware that you drop ship
router w/ EVDO
- wishlist
- spec a "box"
- spec 3rd gen chat
- build a bridge between IRC and ajax?
- viewpoint (event organizer, presenters, audience, remote/local particpants.)
- remote box
- Someplace hosted that can reflect the contents of the local box
- has a fixed ip address
- local box
- suitcase sized
- maybe a musicians 4u case
- wifi router with 'login page' like placesite with links resources
- evdo router as an alternative ethernet
- 1u (non-deep) server
- small ethernet switch
- some services don't require internet access
- services with behind nat addresses
- local DNS for services behind nat
- zero-conf (rendesvous)
- apache can be configured with zero-conf
- what other zero-conf services are there that are cross platform?
- Some services ā
- streaming feeds
- audio
- video
- Joi Ito's servers (yeah right!)
- Simplecast (PC only)
- Recording
- In theory, QT Broadcaster records; in practice it seems to record audio only a lotā
- Streaming
- Collaboration
- managing identity and logins
Conference Streaming Server Boxes.. small linux box, or live cd, which boots up and starts streaming from audio in and from video via firewire in....
to be specific we could make something which you could drop in to a conference which would video cast it. You'd want it to automatically connect back to a specific streaming server and announce your stream to the world.
- ad-hoc problem of ad-hoc conferences
- how to external participants have any impact on ad-hoc conference
- how to we allow everyone the ability to contribute
- how to be more inclusive?
