Events

  • Predictions
    • Locations
    • Themes
  • "Post" Analysis
  • "Pre" Event acknowledgement
    • Like Meetup.com's SMS feature (wish they had a response mechinism)
  • "In" Event invormation
    • dodgeball.com
    • photo recognition (riya)
    • Or grab flickr photos from attendees who said "Yes" that have a timestamp during the event.
  • Social Networking info

HIP = High Impact Participants

  • As organizer, want post-event analytics on our HIP users. Or pre-event info to find (& invite) HIP users of similar themes.

Event Lifecycle that we'd like to see (don't forget to tag at every step of the way.)

  1. Event Creation, attendee Response on Eventful/Upcoming/Meetup
  2. User gets SMS 1-2hrs before reminding them of event and asking them if they're still attending.
  3. @ Event user checks in with a system like dodgeball.com
    1. Another option would be event check-in by taking photos of people as they enter door. (train Riya, or tag in flicr)
  4. Organizer tabulates post-event information via dodgeball/riya/flickr vs. the people who said "Yes" on Eventful/Upcoming/Meetup.
  5. This information can be used in 'Predictive Analysis' to see the likely-hood in the future that a user will attend an event based on factors such as:
    1. Locations (are their some locations that the user will tend to say 'Yes' and actually show up vs. saying 'Yes' and not showing up?
    2. Themes/Subjects(are their some themes that the user will tend to say 'Yes' and actually show up vs. saying 'Yes' and not showing up?

What needs to be built?

  • A portal to aggregate all of this info from the multiple event content sites (meetup, upcoming, eventful, craigslist, dodgeball, flickr, riya, wikis, blogs -> via tags). This is useful for both attendees and organizers. When pulling from RSS feeds, want to grab both subject and details. (Something that suprglu.com and plum.com could do.)
    • If integrate with Dodgeball, a method to pull RSS feeds of event venue. (Currently dodgeball does NOT provide RSS feeds of venues, only users logins.)
    • With upcoming/eventful, need to hook into their API to grab event info and attendees
    • Meetup currently has RSS of event activity, but nothing around attendee status
    • Meetup has SMS reminder 1.5hrs before event, but doesn't ask user final Yes/No status.
    • This sites will help let ppl know who attended:
  • Dodgeball (if ppl check in)
  • Riya (for face recognized photos assoicated with event tags)
  • Flickr, take photos of ea. attendee as they enter event.
  • Flickr photos based on event tag.
  • Flickr (stretch idea) - "Discover" photos based on 'Yes' for attendence (with same flickr/upcoming username) and flickr timestamp of event.

Other Thoughts

  • Attempt to grab flickr photos on usernames of attendees
  • Ask user's for their best Social Networking profile.
    • Aggregate that info in one place so it's easy for other attendees to download contact info (plaxo, vcard, hcard, linkedin)
